Who has each holiday in odd years?

      How the patterns work

Odd and even years. The most common way plans handle holidays. One parent has a holiday in odd-numbered years and the other has it in even-numbered years. A plan might say "Mother has Thanksgiving in odd years," which means Thanksgiving 2027 and 2029 are with Mom and 2026 and 2028 are with Dad.

Taking turns. The holidays go back and forth in calendar order, so if you have New Year's Day, the other parent has Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and so on. The next year starts with the other parent, so everything flips.

Split each day. Both parents see the kids on every holiday. One has the first part of the day until a set time, and the other has the rest. Who goes first flips each year.

Winter break is shown in two halves that switch at noon. We count it in the year it starts, so the break that begins in December 2027 is a 2027 break. We assume it runs from the Saturday before Christmas to the Sunday after New Year's Day; your school's dates may differ by a day or two.

Holidays sit on top of the regular weeks. See your regular schedule on a calendar too: 2-2-3, week on, week off, and the rest.

      Questions parents ask

Who has the kids on Thanksgiving in an odd year?

It depends on your plan. Many plans give one parent Thanksgiving in odd years and the other parent in even years, and often pair it with the opposite half of winter break. Look for the holiday section of your parenting plan, set the pattern above, and the calculator shows every year. Thanksgiving falls on Nov 26 in 2026, Nov 25 in 2027, Nov 23 in 2028 and Nov 22 in 2029.

Is 2027 an odd year for Christmas?

Yes. 2027 is odd, so if your plan gives you Christmas in odd years, you have Christmas Day 2027 and 2029. For winter break, we count the break in the year it starts.

      When is Easter in 2027?

      Easter is on Sunday, March 28, 2027. It's on April 5 in 2026, April 16 in 2028 and April 1 in 2029.

What if our plan doesn't match any of these?

Plans vary a lot, and some name times, travel days or long weekends. This calculator covers the common patterns. Luraio itself works from your own plan's rules, line by line, and shows you where each date came from.

Does this save what I enter?
