Coming from Skylight

Skylight on the wall, Luraio in your pocket.

A Skylight shows one household's week on the kitchen wall. When your kids' week runs across more than one home, the calendar also needs to know whose night it is, and that has to travel with you. Here's how to bring your Skylight events into Luraio.

Skylight alone is enough if

Your kids live in one home, and what you want is the week, the chores and the lists where everyone can see them. Luraio doesn't do chores, meals or a screen for the wall.

Add Luraio if

Your kids live across homes. Luraio lays out your year from the parenting plan, handles swaps and handoffs, and keeps each kid's details on your phone, whichever house you're in.

Bring your events over

Skylight doesn't offer a calendar file or link to take events out. Events reach Google or Apple Calendar only through its two-way sync, so that's the route.

  1. Google or Apple CalendarWhere two-way sync put it
  2. A .ics fileExported from there
  3. LuraioYou pick what comes in
  1. Check where your events live. If you set up Two-Way Sync with Google or iCloud, events on a synced calendar are already in Google or Apple Calendar. Outlook, Yahoo and Cozi only sync one way, into Skylight. Skylight's help
  2. Export them as a file. In Google Calendar on a computer: Settings → Import & export → Export. In Apple Calendar on a Mac: File → Export → Export… You'll get a file ending in .ics.
  3. Bring it into Luraio. Choose the file and how far ahead to bring in. Luraio ticks the events that name your kids, so you only check them, then pick the kid for each and whether it's just for your home.
  4. Set up your schedule. Tell Luraio the pattern your kids live by, like every other weekend or a 2-2-3, and it lays out your year with holidays included.

Events made only on the Skylight, with no synced calendar, have no documented way out, and iCloud's two-way sync doesn't send events created before it was set up. Skylight's help. Add the ones you need to Google or Apple Calendar by hand first.

What stays on the wall

Chores, routines, lists and meals. These live on the Skylight, and we couldn't find an export for them in its help center. Luraio doesn't replace them.

Using both. Plenty of families keep the Skylight for the household's week and use Luraio for the kids' time across homes. That works fine.
