For the other parent

Got a link from Luraio? Here's exactly what it is.

Your kids' other parent uses Luraio to run their side of family life. The link they sent you is one question about your kids, waiting for one answer. You don't need an account or the app, and it costs you nothing.

What you'll see when you tap it

A page with their question on it. It might be a swap, a few hours with the kids, an offer of time while they're away, a trip they're letting you know about, or a form that needs a signature.

You pick an answer. If you want different dates, you can suggest them. That's the whole page.

Links open at app.luraio.com/l/, and each one stops working once it's answered, withdrawn or out of date.

From Marcus

Can Jada and Eli be with Marcus Jan 15–18, and with you Jan 22–25?

“Work trip moved. Happy to swap the next weekend back.”

Answer by Fri, Jan 9

An example, for a made-up family. Your link has your question on it.

What the link shows, and what it never does

It shows

  • Who's asking, by first name
  • The kids it's about, by first name
  • The dates or the one thing being asked
  • Their note, if they wrote one, and when they'd like an answer

It never

  • Shows anything else from their calendar, their home or their partner
  • Asks you to sign up, download anything or pay
  • Records that you opened it. They can't see whether you have.
  • Takes a second answer. Once you've answered, it's done.

Your answer does what it says, nothing more. If you accept a swap, the nights move on their calendar. It's saved with the time and the words "from the link," so neither of you has to remember who agreed to what.

Rather just text them back?

That's fine. They can mark that you answered outside the app, and it's noted that way.

If they emailed you the link, you'll get one reminder two days before the answer-by date. That's the only one.

If you ever decide to join

You don't have to, and everything above keeps working if you don't. If you do, it's free for you, always, and here's what it means.

  1. You share the kids' side, and only that

The two of you see the same calendar, requests and kid details for the kids you share. You see exactly what they see there, no more and no less.

  2. Your home stays yours

What you plan for your own time, your ideas and your memories with the kids stay in your home. The other home never sees them, and you never see theirs.

  3. Your details carry your name

Anything you write about your home, like a bedtime or a house rule, shows that you wrote it, and only you can change it.

  4. You're told who else can see what

If either of you adds a partner, a grandparent or a sitter, the other parent gets a note saying exactly what that person can and can't see. Partners never see what the two of you send each other.

What Luraio won't do

It doesn't compare the two homes, keep score or rank anyone. It never asks your kids about the other home, and it never makes them the messenger. It shows what your parenting plan says, with the paragraph it came from, and leaves the meaning to the two of you.

It's built to help each parent be the parent they want to be in their own home. That includes you.

Do I need the app to answer?

No. The link opens in any browser on your phone or computer. There's nothing to download and no account to make.

Will they know if I opened it?

No. Luraio doesn't record when a link is opened, and no screen shows whether something was opened, read or seen.

Can I change my mind after I answer?

A link takes one answer. If something changes, reply to them the way you normally would, and they can send a new request.

Why did I get a link instead of an invite?

Because one parent is enough to use Luraio. They can run their side without you joining, and still ask you things the way that's easiest for you. If you'd like to join, ask them for an invite.

Does it cost anything?

Not for you. Answering a link is free, and joining is free for the other parent, always.
